Don has competed as a runner and cyclist long before Lycra was even invented. He trains solely for the shorter distance events (5K or less) and has goals to run a sub-five minute mile by the end of 2008. At the end of 2007, he has won his age group in 17 consecutive 5K races. Don began his boot camp “experience” in 2004 after crossing paths with SFT during the Des Peres evening sessions. Looking for a way to increase upper body strength in order to balance his training he became a true believer after six months when he shaved 45 seconds off his 1-mile personal best and 1:30 from his 5K best. Operating under the motto “you can't fire a cannon from a canoe”, he continues to rely on overall strength training to maintain his competitiveness and is confident he can convey that to others looking for similar results. Don is also an avid cyclist, speed skater and occasional “conga” player. Father of two (Greg & Stuart), he and his wife Christine live in the Kirkwood area.
